Sentou's story began in 1947 in post-war France when Robert Sentou set up his first furniture workshop, la Chaise Paillée. With a keen eye on design, he produced the creations of renowned designers such as Roger Fatus, Charlotte Perriand and Roger Tallon followed by his original pieces that were widely distributed to furniture dealers and commissioned projects in Paris.

In 1991, Pierre Romanet, an interior design graduate from Ecole Boulle, took over the company’s legacy as Robert Sentou's successor. While respecting their shared passion for design, Pierre Romanet developed the collection with new designs including Akari Light Sculptures by Isamu Noguchi, as well as Roger Tallon, Claudio Colucci, Marc Held, Brigitte de Bazelaire, and numerous other design brands. Today, Sentou is also a design studio with an archive that offers renewed products as well as new innovative ideas that continue to grow over the years under Pierre Romanet's artistic supervision.
